The road to meaningful use of health information technology is riddled with detours, potholes and yield signs. Yet the 2012 H&HN Most Wired Survey proves that hospitals with well-crafted and well-mapped plans can motor their way toward successful adoption.
Since 1994, the HIMSS Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence has recognized excellence in the implementation and value from health information technology, specifically EHRs. There are currently four award categories: Public Health, Organizational, Ambulatory, and Community Health Organizations.
In 2005, HIMSS Analytics launched the EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM) to track adoption of EMR applications within hospitals and health systems. LearningElite program honors the best organizations for learning and development. This robust peer-developed, benchmarking program recognizes those organizations that employ exemplary workforce development strategies to deliver significant business results that benefit their organization, industry and the learning and development field.
Given by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center (ANCC), hospitals that receive Magnet Designation satisfy a set of criteria designed to measure the strength and quality of nursing within a hospital. Hospitals with Magnet status have demonstrated their nursing practices delivering superior patient outcomes.
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated the ability to set industry standards on quality and have continuously showcased improvements to their business practices.

U.S. News developed Most Connected Hospitals to highlight that doubly unique group of institutions, which are both digitally forward and clinically excellent.
The 100 Top Hospitals study uses objective research and public data to formulate the list for the best U.S. hospitals. From this list, selecting the Everest Award winners is based upon methodically recognizing the overlap between superior performance measures and improvement rates.
Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) recognizes the 15 Top Health systems in the United States, based on a composite score of eight quality measures, patient perception of care and efficiency. Six Cerner clients are on the list.

The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) recognized Cerner Corporation as a 2012 BEST Award Winner during an awards banquet in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. Cerner ranked No. 3 out of 84 applicants. According to ASTD, “the BEST Awards recognize organizations that demonstrate enterprise-wide success as a result of associate learning and development. These winners demonstrate the critical connection between learning and development and achieving business results. They are BEST at Building talent, Enterprise-wide, Supported by the organization’s leaders, fostering a Thorough learning culture.

Last month, in an auditorium full of marketing and strategic business leaders from companies like Apple, IBM, McKesson, 3M and Yahoo!, the Cerner Vision Center was recognized as a World Class Briefing Center by the Association of Briefing Program Managers (ABPM). Specifically honored with an award of achievement for World Class Marketing, Cerner was one of only eight organizations to be recognized and was in great company with many of the fellow winners being from Fortune 100 conglomerates like Aetna, AT&T, Dell and Sprint.

Cerner has received the Best in KLAS award for Application Hosting the past four years (2009-2012). In addition, in 2012 Cerner has received the Best in KLAS award for IT Outsourcing (Extensive). Founded in 1996, KLAS is a research and analysis firm specializing in monitoring and reporting the performance of Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) vendors and Professional Services Firms (PSFs).

Cerner won the 2009 Best Practices Award in Workplace Learning and Performance through Technology Innovations from ASTD, Kansas City Chapter. This award recognizes organizations that demonstrate significant improvement in integrating technology into learning interventions and showing measurable results of technology-enhanced learning experiences or improved efficiencies.

In 2009, the Community Blood Center awarded Cerner with the “Newcomer Award.” We were also received the “Community Star Club” award in 2009 and 2010. These awards were given to us for donating more than 400 units of blood a year.

Cerner was recognized as #45 on the Computerworld - 100 Best Places to Work in IT for 2013. Computerworld acknowledges that training IT employees is key to the success of Cerner, speaking specifically to the training that Cerner offers to their clients and associates. The “Advancing Conversion Excellence” (ACE) program was mentioned in detail. On the ACE trips Cerner employees travel to client sites to support end users engaged in the process of converting to Cerner systems. Cerner’s employee center features a gym, a cardio workout room, a weight lifting area, an indoor pool, racquetball courts and ping pong tables. Cerner has an onsite primary care medical clinic for their employees and dependents, and offers a full-service medical lab and a full-service pharmacy.

The Healthcare Informatics 100 ranks the leading 100 companies by revenues derived from health care IT products and services earned in the United States. The ranking is based on revenue information from 2012, and provides readers with an overview of companies active in the health care IT market.

Started in 1980, the Kansas City Corporate Challenge is an Olympic-type event that allows Kansas City Area corporations to interact with each other through a variety of sporting events. In 2010, Cerner was named the Kansas City Corporate Challenge Champions.

Cerner has been named one of Training Magazine's Top 125 training organizations for 10 consecutive years. In 2013, Cerner ranked 40th in an awards gala in Orlando. Fla, Feb. 18.

Two Cerner associates, Nate Kelly and Erin Matyak, were named as Training Top Young Trainers to Watch by Training Magazine. To qualify, candidates were required to possess a minimum of three years' experience in the training field and manage one or more direct reports or lead a large-scale training/learning and development initiative.
