Cerner makes $1.3B acquisition

 Cerner Corp. will buy health information technology competitor Siemens Health Services for $1.3 billion — in cash.

 Siemens Health Services is a division of German engineering company Siemens AG.

The combination will bring Cerner’s annual revenue to $4.5 billion — up from $2.91 billion recorded at the end of 2013. The deal also will bolster Cerner’s international growth, giving it a presence in about 40 countries.
