East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) is a 450-bed, state-of the-art community hospital that serves the greater New Orleans region, served by a staff of more than 3,000, including more than 650 physicians. With a focus on patient-centered care, EJGH was recognized with its third consecutive American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet designation and was the first Magnet organization in Louisiana.

Bringing healthcare IT to communities of all sizes

USA Today recently ran an article highlighting a federal stimulus program developed to bring broadband Internet access to rural areas of the country. President Obama reinforced the importance of this initiative in his State of the Union address last week as a requirement for attracting and keeping business in the United States. The ability for businesses in rural areas to send and receive information as quickly as their urban counterparts is vital to their continued sustainability and ultimately to the livelihood of their communities. But it’s not just about businesses; it’s about improving access to education and healthcare as well.

Critical Access Hospital achieves HIMSS Stage 6 with CommunityWorks model

CommunityWorks is a division of Cerner that focuses on partnering with Community and Critical Access Hospitals. We’ve been working closely with Carroll County Memorial Hospital (Carrollton, MO) since last March and are proud to announce that CCMH become just the 4th Critical Access Hospital in the U.S. to reach HIMSS Stage 6 on the EMR Adoption Model. This puts them in the top 3.5% of all U.S. hospitals in terms of EMR adoption. CCMH went live on the CommunityWorks Millennium Software as a Service (SaaS) offering on September 1.
