Authorized in 2009 by the children’s health insurance program reauthorization act (CHIPRA) and developed by AHRQ and the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services (CMS), the format highlights critical elements of any EHR being used for pediatric care.

It is not unusual to do a research study that has unexpected findings. But to have two such studies that also support Cerner's critical care solutions is a true gift horse. One of these studies has already been published in the January issue of Critical Care Medicine (receiving Feature Article status) and the results of the other study were recently unveiled in an oral presentation at the Society of Critical Care Medicine's annual meeting.
