Marina Salud Hospital recognised at the II Alicante Health Gala

29 November 2012

Dénia - 23 November, 2012 - Marina Salud Director of Organisation and Information Technologies, Vicent Moncho, accompanied by his team and the Health Department Commissioner, were recognised for their implementation of information technology systems by the Health Department of Dénia.

The award “Excellence in Technology Innovation” recognises the commitment and work Marina Salud Health Department has done in implementing Millennium, the information technology system provided by Cerner.

Marina Salud Dénia Hospital is an European centre of reference thanks to its level of technology used across the hospital. In fact, it is the first Hospital in Spain and the second in Europe in obtaining the HIMSS analytics Level 7 qualification (an international institution which evaluates the technologic level and adoption of IT at hospitals).

Not only is every part of the process now electronic (the hospital is fully paperless) but the information system is a fundamental part in the clinician practice.

Benefits are being realised from the implementation of prescribing, automation of clinical processes and the ability to predict patients in risk.

According to Vicent Moncho, “a paper-free hospital is not the end goal. It is the initial platform which facilitates the improvement for the patients’ health through the possibilities technology gives to us.”
