by Dr Naseem Mohamed Ibrahim Abdalla | Dr Sadaf Ahsan Naqvi | Neema Preman September 26, 2022 Patient safety is not a new concept in the world of medicine. Dating back to the origins of the Hippocratic oath of ‘do no harm’, it constitutes a core pillar of healthcare provision – wrapped around patient wellbeing and optimal outcomes, it is a promise we make to every patient for delivering our best at every stage of their ailment. It cannot be dismissed that during day-to-day medical practice, several errors can be a threat to patient safety. Fortunately, many of them are preventable – proven to impact health outcomes and burden healthcare resources.

by Dr. Yasir Khan July 18, 2022 Senior healthcare professionals and industry observers have long believed that the healthcare business is behind other industries in adopting new technology and undergoing digital transformation. McKinsey has published a digital index comparing the maturity of different industries, which demonstrates healthcare among the least advanced sectors in digitalization, particularly regarding transactions, digital spending on employees and digital capital. However, exactly how far behind schedule is the healthcare system? The reality is more complicated.

by Dr Mohamed AlRayyes October 18, 2020 The modern era that we live in has only one constant to it: change; a neverending series of uncertainties that all industries face and will continue to face. In such conditions, the resilience of business organizations becomes an essential trait to ensure sustainability (and survival) into the future. The Oxford English Dictionary defines resilience as “the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties”. With the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen that mere recovery and returning to business, as usual, is no longer enough for survival – we have experienced this in both our organizations and personal lives. What we took for granted just six months ago is no longer viable. To survive, we all had to reinvent our way of life and were encouraged (actually, forced) to finally take advantage of many existing technologies at our disposal.
by Geetika Karol | Dina Hidayat October 7, 2020 Being mentally healthy is not just about being free of mental health problems, it is much beyond. It is the continuous drive towards serenity of mind, body and soul. This is a journey from inward to outward. Just as we feed our body being mindful of its health, we need to ensure our minds have a healthy diet too – one of good thoughts, positivity, acceptance and surrender.
by Ali Juma Alajme | Marcel Yammine | Bashar Balish October 6, 2020 Digital transformation of the healthcare sector has seen unprecedented growth and acceptance in the recent past, as a shared global pandemic experience brought to the fore the clear need for better data collection, analysis, and sharing.
by Dr Khalid Alyefei | Dr Nader El Shehabi | Jacob Ankrah September 17, 2020 Proper communication in health care is a keystone in the patient care process, ensuring a safe and efficient patient journey during their visits to the health care facilities. With World Patient Safety Day 2020, it’s important to recognize that while there is still a pandemic across the globe, efforts to enhance and keep all our patients safe are still occurring every day. Sidra Medicine in Qatar is one such organization that has continued to address this ongoing concern via its use of Cerner tools and solutions.
by Dr Anees Fareed September 13, 2020 You all might have read and seen the predictions and visualizations on how a post-COVID era might look like for health care from experts and pioneers in the industry. All of them unanimously state the arrival of a new normal. While reading through some of the suggestions, I’ve been curious to know how many of those transformations we have seen and/or predicted are entirely novel to the industry. Is a new normal being created or is it a timely upgrade of old normal? So, let’s dissect a few of them and see how ‘new’ they are.
