Cerner Asia Pacific Expands Executive Leadership

Cerner Asia Pacific has recently expanded its executive leadership team with the appointment of Dr Monica Trujillo as Chief Medical Officer and Chief Clinical Information Officer and Michael Draheim as the Senior Director and General Manager for Victoria and South Australia.
Both Monica and Michael are seasoned senior executives with a proven ability to deliver very complex change programs. They have extensive experience in digital health and will add tremendous executive leadership to Cerner's mission of contributing to the systematic improvement of health care and improving the wellness of communities in Australia and across the broader Asia Pacific region.
"These executive appointments are a true commitment to our clients and the Asia Pacific market. Having the right skills and capabilities to drive excellence in service delivery will ensure our clients gain greater value from their digital health journey with a patient-centred approach, beyond the EMR to population health where we manage wellness, illness prevention and research" said Cameron Burt, Vice President and Managing Director, Cerner Asia Pacific.
Dr Monica Trujillo will lead Cerner's highly skilled team of doctors, nurses and clinicians, to raise clinical leadership, strategy and engagement across the 400+ Asia Pacific hospitals and community health centre clients. Prior to her role as Executive General Manager, Clinical and Consumer Engagement and Clinical Governance, and inaugural Chief Clinical Information Officer at the Australian Digital Health Agency, Monica was the Chief Medical Information Officer at UnitingCare Health, Australia's first, as well as being the Regional Director of Medical Services for St Stephen's Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital. She was instrumental in leading the Cerner implementation at St Stephen's Hervey Bay. This project delivered the first fully integrated digital hospital in Australia and St Stephen's was the first Australian hospital to achieve HIMSS Stage 6 accreditation. Monica obtained her degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1998, holds a Master of Public Health, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators as well as Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Informatics. She is a well-known advocate for clinician and consumer leadership and engagement to achieve better health outcomes.
"We are at a turning point in health care. With leading edge technology, Cerner's ability to improve the health of our community and populations at large will positively transform how we deliver health care services. It is a very exciting time to join the Cerner team to make this happen across Asia Pacific," said Dr Monica Trujillo.
Michael Draheim will execute on Cerner's strategy to further strengthen its position and growth across Victoria and South Australia. His acute interest and understanding of Cerner and how its population health solutions can be applied will ensure clients are aligned with Cerner's vision and roadmap and that they continue to leverage and generate great value from the solutions and services. Prior to joining Cerner, Michael was the Acting Executive Director, Logan Bayside Health Network and the CIO for Metro South Hospital and Health Services. He has more than 30 years of healthcare experience in both public and private organisations across Australia; including over 20 years in senior management and executive roles and over 14 years of clinical practice across a variety of settings. Michael successfully delivered the first end to end digitalisation of a major public health service in Australia including Princess Alexandra Hospital, the first adult public hospital in Australia, achieving HIMSS EMRAM Stage 6.
"I feel privileged to be joining the Cerner team and am excited about not only what Cerner does today, but its vision for the future and the benefits and opportunities this vision will bring in continuing to improve health outcomes for communities," said Michael Draheim.
We are excited to welcome Monica and Michael to the Cerner team.
