Dr Justin Whatling

Justin Whatling

As the vice president of Population Health, Dr Justin Whatling focuses on population health management and clinical transformation for Cerner in Europe.

Justin joined Cerner in 2012. He has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare. Fifteen of those years have been focused on using technology and informatics to transform outcomes for patients.

He worked as a hospital physician in world-leading health centres including King's College Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and Queen Square National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery. He is a clinician, health informatician and business strategist, with experience in both public and private sectors including small- to medium-sized enterprises.

During his time at Cerner, Justin has played a significant role in establishing a formal partnership with Cerner and the University College London, where he is a visiting professor in health informatics in the Faculty of Population Health Sciences and Institute of Digital Health.

Justin is a Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, the United Kingdom professional body for IT. He is immediate past chair for BCS Health where he relaunched their academic journal, established strategy and policy function and expanded support for professionalism in the UK health IT workforce.

Additionally, Justin is an independent member of the NHS’s National Information Board (NIB), which sets the direction for the healthcare system in England on technology and information. He supports the NIB work team on bringing forward life-saving treatments and supporting innovation and growth.

Justin trained at King's College London in Medicine with distinction and has a first class degree in Molecular Biology.
