Leading healthcare provider Mayo Clinic will soon launch its first facility in the UK, in a unique collaboration with Oxford University Clinic that brings together the best of these world-renowned organisations.
Located in the heart of London, the new clinic will open its doors to clients towards the end of September. Its focus will be on the delivery of world-class private diagnostic screening and preventative care services to patients, using our Cerner Millennium® platform as the foundation to build its electronic health records (EHR) system.
The site represents the first milestone of Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic – a partnership itself between Oxford University and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – which aims to drive clinical innovation that improves patient care, advance medical research and education, and ultimately deliver better patient outcomes.
This announcement marks a first-of-type achievement for Cerner, being our first Millennium contract within the UK’s private healthcare sector.
Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic will leverage Cerner’s innovative solutions, experience, and support to help drive clinical excellence and deliver its three guiding principles: proactive health management, a coordinated care journey, and world-class healthcare for all their patients.
Drawing on the extensive expertise from all the organisations involved, the facility will allow patients to receive diagnosis and expert care, often within the same visit, from a core team of expert clinicians, supported by a rich network of global healthcare professionals.
The project represents a unique opportunity to bring together the best of Cerner and all three partner organisations to carry out vital clinical research and deliver ground-breaking insights to improve patient care that could then bring positive impact on the wider UK health system.
Distie Profit, managing director for Cerner UK, said:
“We are excited about how this unique partnership will benefit patients not only from the UK but potentially from all different parts of the world. Mayo Clinic and Oxford University Clinic are both reputable organisations known for their innovative approach to take care quality to the next level, and we are delighted to partner with them in this endeavour.
“Our involvement in this project goes a long way to show our capabilities to support organisations of all sizes to deliver world-class patient care while operating at the forefront of digital care.”
Ben Hume, clinic manager, Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic, added:
“At Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic we are dedicated to providing the highest quality service to clients looking to take a proactive approach to their health. The management and security of all medical records was therefore a crucial consideration when we chose to adopt the Cerner Millennium technology.
“We look forward to working in partnership with Cerner over the coming months as we welcome our first clients to the new facility on London’s Portland Place.”
