We help nurses spend more time with their patients, and deliver the best possible care.
Nursing teams save time seeking medical clarifications thanks to our solutions making the information easily accessible. At the same time as checking on a patient’s clinical status, best practice evidence, protocols and guidelines are available across disciplines, providing greater efficiency and improved patient outcomes.
EHR-integrated bedside devices provide nurses with standardised terminology and workflows in every role, meaning less time is spent understanding systems and more time engaging with the patient. These workflows improve quality and give providers feedback on the time saved, allowing them to allocate staff more efficiently.
Cerner solutions create a single source of truth for the entire care delivery team. This is done by providing real time access to the same information regardless of role, specialty or condition. As a result, we are able to support the full scope of practice for each nurse with automated protocols, optimised handovers and regulatory requirements captured as a natural by-product of documentation.
Cerner’s Rapid Response dashboard now allows nurses at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to work proactively when they’re dealing with people in critical care, reducing lengths of stays and improving the patient experience.
In an effort to provide more efficient, effective care, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (Imperial) implemented near real-time capturing of patient observations/vital signs directly into their electronic patient record, releasing an estimated 5,800+ nursing hours to patient care over a 15-month period.
Tim has been a paediatric nurse for 17 years and still practices in the NHS. He has worked in the Paediatric E.D, PICU, Surgical Pre-assessment, Bed Management and as a Clinical Informatics lead for an NHS Trust in the UK. He joined Cerner in March 2015 as a Clinical Consultant in the transformation team.
““The benefits… are several – firstly, having the information available whenever you need it; secondly, not having to ask patients every time… and thirdly, the ability to order automatically, so reducing order time.”
— Gerry Bolger, chief nursing information officer, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was successful in their nursing technology bid for £1,000,000 last year to purchase integrated vital signs monitors (iVSM) which interface directly with the EMR. The integration is made possible with CareAware VitalsLink™, a mobile vital signs device solution. The Cerner CareAware VitalsLink solution is a first of type in the UK and offers a technology to help the Trust support the delivery of acute patient care.
Our clients’ nurses are actively involved in our regular nursing special interest groups (SIGs) in the UK, so they can share knowledge and latest learnings, directly influence future solution design and development, and showcase their innovations throughout the industry. The SIG is open to all nurses, including specialist nurses for adults and paediatrics. Just contact us using the button below to find out more.
