Early this morning, Fortune magazine released its annual Fortune 500 ranking, a list of the largest U.S. companies by revenue that, collectively, represents two-thirds of the U.S. economy. For the first time, Cerner is on the list. This news was not unexpected. With a strong history of helping forge health care’s digital age, Cerner has been on the cusp of the ranking for some time now.

But revenue isn’t our only measure of success at Cerner. Inclusion in the list is a testament to the incredible work of Cerner associates, a renewed focus on our mission and the unrelenting commitment to meaningful transformation. As a leadership team, we are confident that the strategies we’ve put into motion over the past two years will fuel Cerner’s next era of sustainable, predictable growth and increase our client’s satisfaction.

Our next chapter calls for Cerner to pioneer a new era for health care. With the same urgency we worked with to digitize and automate health care the past four decades, we’re now harnessing Cerner’s global scale and expansive application of data to bring back the joy of practicing medicine with modern, more efficient, cost-effective and holistic models of care. Health care’s cognitive age will rely on Cerner platforms powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning – innovation deployed exponentially faster than the platforms of the past.

Our mission – to relentlessly seek breakthrough innovation that will shape health care of tomorrow – is more important now than ever. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented challenges for health care providers and the communities where they live and work. Our greatest priority is to protect the health and well-being of our 27,000 associates, whose talents and dedication continue to support the heroes fighting on the front lines of the crisis.

The global response to COVID-19 validates our strategies and underscores the need for Cerner to work with even more urgency to provide innovation, technology and data analysis across all venues of care. Not only has the pandemic brought our mission and vision to life in a way that we might never have expected, they have accelerated adoption of health IT innovation, including the use of virtual care solutions and data analytics to protect the health of caregivers, patients and communities.

Cerner is well-positioned for the future both financially and organizationally. We are more aligned with our clients than ever and building even stronger relationships as we work through this crisis together.

As a global health care company, we’re committed to a multi-year transformation journey and proud to embrace progress, encourage innovation and support collaboration that delivers better outcomes, lower costs and improved accessibility and usability of technology. Today’s recognition by Fortune demonstrates the positive impacts of our mindset and Cerner’s growth strategies.

I want to personally thank everyone of Cerner’s associates, clients and partners for the impact they’ve had in creating what Cerner is today.

We have a great deal to celebrate as a company as a new Fortune 500 entrant and I'm looking forward to the day when we can do so together.
