During the last week of February, Cerner’s European Collaboration Forum (ECF) celebrated its tenth anniversary by bringing together 650+ attendees from over 16 countries. Their time in Paddington, London was spent reflecting on the progress made in revolutionising healthcare around the world and engaging in stimulating discussions about what the next stage of the journey could and should look like.

Connecting information with a Health Information Exchange (HIE) has benefits that resonate across the continuum of care. Typically, this could be things like an A&E consultant immediately seeing pre-existing conditions and medication allergies, community nurses accessing test results and scans from their patient’s home, or a GP being able to see that their patient has a specialist appointment soon and equipping them with the right questions to maximise their treatment and get a better outcome.

The clinical exchange platform (CEP) is in full swing at St George’s, giving clinicians access to their patients’ GP record: diagnoses, diagnostics, medications and other clinical information. Information stored in GPs’ practice systems are now visible in Cerner Millennium®. This has been enabled by the implementation of Cerner’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform.
