Documentation tool helps providers improve charting efficiency and focus on delivering care during pandemic

When a patient is suspected to have COVID-19, providers need to limit physical contact while still charting effectively. In Davenport, Iowa, leaders at Cerner ITWorks client Genesis Health System built out the MPages® Workflow functionality called Quick Visits. It pre-populates some of the necessary information a provider would normally complete to expedite the visits.

 

“For COVID-19, Quick Visits help drive the correct billing codes for reimbursement, while also allowing providers to complete the minimum documentation necessary to get in and out so they can see their next patient,” said Polly Parrent, CHCIO, Cerner ITWorks client leader, Genesis Health System. “As a result, the tool helps providers better focus on their safety and taking care of patients.”

 

An added advantage is any organization using MPages can stand up Quick Visits rapidly. Genesis rolled out the functionality to doctors using telehealth and four urgent care facilities — including two COVID-19-specific screening clinics — within 24 hours.
