Mike Nill

  • Mike Nill, executive vice president and chief operating officer, is responsible for Cerner’s core worldwide business operations including intellectual property, Worldwide Consulting, IT transformation, infrastructure, managed services and client support.

Nill began his Cerner career in 1996, rolling out Cerner Millennium® solutions and building capabilities to help clients effectively implement and manage their technology infrastructure. During his 19-year career, he’s focused on improving the quality and effectiveness of Cerner’s delivery organizations by aligning all aspects of the development process – from implementation through management and support.

An expert in remote hosting, data management and security, Nill guided the CernerWorksSM remote hosting offering from infancy into a world-class suite of managed services.

Today the offering provides continuous operations of Cerner solutions for nearly 75 percent of the company’s client base, which accounts for more than 40,000 facilities worldwide.

Nill also spearheaded the Cerner ITWorksSM offering, which further aligns the company with clients, improves quality and lowers costs.
In addition, his management of Cerner’s $4.2 billion annual research and development investment has resulted in Cerner solutions having the highest code quality in company history, and the most complete set of integrated capabilities in the health care industry.

Prior to joining Cerner, Nill spent 10 years as a technology consultant and architect with Andersen Consulting. He received a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Rockhurst University.
