John Landis, senior vice president, ClientWorks, provides executive leadership for Cerner's businesses in home care, long-term care and retail pharmacy. In addition, Landis continues to provide operational oversight to Cerner's client organization. He has been in this role since 2007.
Landis joined Cerner in 1994. His prior roles include vice president of client operations and director of business development. He provided operational leadership for Cerner's sales force as it expanded from roughly $200 million in annual bookings to $1.2 billion (1999 through 2006); provided operational leadership for the worldwide consulting practice (2003 through 2006) while operating earnings from professional services expanded 252 percent (from $30.2 million to $106.4 million), and productivity improved 178 percent. Additionally, he was awarded Cerner's most distinguished long-term achievement award, the President's Award in 2004.
Prior to joining Cerner, Landis spent seven years in a leadership role within IBM’s health industry. At IBM, he oversaw the strategic planning functions of its healthcare sector. Early at IBM, he was involved in defining software requirements within IBM's application software development organization. Prior to joining IBM, Landis was a healthcare administrator at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). There, he was responsible for IT selection and implementation initiatives, as well as oversight of a group of clinical departments and MUSC's outpatient clinics.
Landis earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in hospital and healthcare administration, both at the University of Iowa. In the Kansas City community, Landis is an active member of his church and is an avid golf and tennis fan.
