Cerner, Adventist Health Create Single Integrated EHR
across Ambulatory, Acute, Post- Acute
KANSAS
CITY, Mo. and ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Jan.
11, 2012 — Cerner Corporation
(Nasdaq: CERN) announced today an
expansion of its affiliation with Adventist
Health, a faith-based,
not-for-profit, integrated health care delivery system on the West Coast. The
digitization of care processes now will expand across more than 130 outpatient
clinics—which includes the largest California network of rural health
clinics.
As an early adopter of health care information
technology, Adventist Health started implementing Cerner’s electronic health
record (EHR) across all hospital settings in 2001. Adventist Health home care agencies also
implemented Cerner
BeyondNow® in 2009. This expanded relationship will complement
the hospital EHR and homecare technology with a roll-out of Cerner
Ambulatory EHR
solutions.
Increasing the interoperability
between the ambulatory, acute and post-acute IT platforms will allow Adventist
Health to provide enhanced care coordination as patients move throughout the
integrated health care delivery system. With the inclusion of the outpatient
medical record, clinicians will have instant, secure access to the complete
chart.
“This
IT expansion project will enable Adventist Health to maximize its
patient-centric focus by delivering clinical information systems within a
single platform, and thus providing optimal health care information across the
patient’s continuum of care,” said Alan Soderblom, vice president and chief
information officer of Adventist Health. “Cerner understands our strategy to
provide clinicians with the best clinical data along with improving enterprise
operational efficiency. Cerner is committed to helping us achieve these goals.”
Cerner is collaborating with Adventist Health on implementing
a number of other solutions that align both companies’ long term goals of
digitizing patient care. This includes Cerner’s Best in KLAS Remote Hosting Option,
which provides proven and predictable data center services along with Discern
nCode®
computer-assisted coding and Cerner
Patient Portal.
Adventist Health is also working with Cerner on advancing their revenue cycle solutions.
