Each group involved brings their own processes, ideas and culture, aspects of doing business that have often taken years to develop. In a health care setting, especially in recent years, mergers also bring questions about technology. Which EHR system does each group use? Can they work together, or is the decision based around one system or the other? Tough questions, especially when patient care is considered.

April 17, 2012

The value of more diverse communities’ using this data may be in the serendipitous opportunities that it creates. The Direct Project: A modular view - part three

April 12, 2012

In part one of this series on the Direct Project, I discussed the backbone transport and message gateway the program uses. The Direct Project: A modular view - part one

April 06, 2012

Over the past month, I've taken on the daunting task of compiling my knowledge of the technical ins and outs of the Direct Project into an online developer's handbook to assist both my Cerner brethren and third party developers who have chosen Cerner Direct as their full-service health information service provider (HISP). As I looked back over the content, I realized there is a lot of material that is useful to a broader audience in the Direct community. So in the spirit of knowledge sharing, I'm sharing my insight (wisdom?) in a series of blog posts.
