Senior Vice President, Chief Clinical and Patient Safety Officer
As senior vice president, chief clinical and patient safety officer, Dr. Eva Karp has executive responsibility for defining Cerner's clinical practices to optimize user experience, patient outcomes and organizational execution. She has responsibility for the clinical and provider voice, related to clinical strategies, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, patient safety and data management. Eva partners closely with the regulatory and legislative affairs teams across Cerner. Eva is responsible for the clinical, operational and strategic leadership necessary to drive high-value clinical practices and functions as the clinical leader for all organizations across the globe.
In this role, Eva co-chairs Cerner's Clinical Executive Governance Board, ensuring the voice of the clinician is part of all product development and support initiatives.
Eva joined Cerner in 2001, and has held roles within Cerner including vice president of Strategic Clinical Solutions within the Intellectual Property (IP) organization, where she was responsible for defining the strategic direction and objectives for patient safety, clinical workflow, financial viability, regulatory standards and optimal outcomes across the continuum of care.
Prior to joining Cerner, Eva had more than 16 years of experience in health care informatics and 12 years of neurological and surgical ICU care experience.
Eva has a doctorate in health care administration from the Medical University of South Carolina, a master's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix, a bachelor's degree in business management from Dowling College, and an associate's degree in nursing from Miami Dade Community College.
