Chief People Officer
As executive vice president and chief people officer, Julie Wilson leads Cerner’s human resources and associate services organizations.
She is responsible for the recruitment, retention, benefits and services of more than 26,000 associates worldwide. Since becoming chief people officer in 2003, Cerner’s workforce has grown over 400 percent.
Julie initially joined Cerner in 1990 working in line with sales team to create client contracts. After a brief departure to help launch a start-up company, she returned to hold a variety of roles within human resources, including direct management of recruiting, human resources consulting services, associate services and Cerner’s properties and facilities group. In 2003, she assumed the role of chief people officer, and was promoted to executive vice president in 2013.
Prior to joining Cerner, Julie was the business manager for the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) athletics department. She assisted with the movement of the athletics program from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I.
As an active citizen in the Kansas City and women’s leadership community, Julie participates on the following boards: National World War I Museum Board of Trustees, Kansas City Sports Commission, UMKC HR Advisory Board, and the First Hand Advisory Board. Julie previously served on the boards of Park University, UMKC Trustees, the Central Exchange and the KC STEM Alliance.
Julie has been recognized in the community as a member of the 2014 class of Women Who Mean Business, she is a two-time inductee into the UMKC Athletics Hall of Fame, and she is the recipient of UMKC’s Bill French Alumni Service Award in 2016.
Julie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UMKC.
