On May 8, Cerner Middle East & Africa celebrated the seventh edition of its annual Achievement and Innovation Awards by honoring clients across the Middle East for their most rewarding health care technology adoptions in five categories: Consumer Experience, Support Services, Population Health Management, Clinical Decision Support and User Experience.

“This year’s finalists feature truly inspirational and innovative stories of how our Middle East client organizations have worked diligently with their leadership, care teams and IT staff to help elevate the health care experience for the communities in their respective countries,” said Michael Pomerance, vice president and managing director, Cerner Middle East & Africa. “The 2018 Achievement and Innovation Awards received more than 40 entries from four countries in less than two months. We look forward to continuing the journey of advancing health care together with our visionary client leadership.”

Cerner created the Achievement and Innovation Awards to recognize clients that have effectively enhanced value for their organizations and improved the health care experience for patients through health IT and the support of Cerner’s solutions and services.

During the annual Cerner Middle East Collaboration Forum at The Address Dubai Marina in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the top three finalists for each award category presented on their successes. After the presentations, the audience voted to select a winner in each category and winners were announced during the forum’s awards ceremony.

King Saud University Medical City was recognized with the Achievement and Innovation in Clinical Decision Support award for its work in Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Prophylaxis workflow. The University reported improved results due to the innovative workflow, helping the organization admit adult patients that are assessed for VTE and make sure the patients receive appropriate VTE Prophylaxis.

Hailed for its ‘Transforming Patient Experience through Smart Tech’, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre was awarded the Achievement and Innovation in Consumer Experience award. The project is an example of how technology can support both the patient experience and patient care by integrating devices and tools and collaborating across disciplines.

The Achievement and Innovation in Support Services award was granted to Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt (57357) for their streamlined procedure room workflow, supporting timely laboratory order reviews.

Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) received the Achievement and Innovation in Population Health Management award for its integrated approach to student health. The school health program running in SEHA uses Cerner’s integrated electronic health record (EHR) to support a patient’s lifetime of care whether in school, clinics, hospitals or even out on mobile units. The ability of the school programs to update the EHR supports improved health for the overall population from a young age.

The Achievement and Innovation in User Experience award was presented to the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention (UAE MOHAP) for their performance & clinical experience (PaCE) project, the performance evaluation project for all UAE MOHAP hospitals. The purpose of the PaCE project is to deliver accurate, timely, clinical, administrative and operational data to help in monitoring and evaluating the delivery of health care in an efficient manner. This multi-year project also promotes nursing excellence through data-driven feedback and education.

The annual Cerner Middle East Collaboration Forum is a three-day knowledge-sharing event designed for Cerner Middle East & Africa client health care leaders, clinicians and IT professionals. The event highlights the latest developments in regional health care. More than 300 senior health care representatives from various organizations, hospitals and ministries attended this year.
