As a leading global health care technology company, Cerner has the very important responsibility of protecting the health and safety of our associates, and the well-being of our clients and communities.
Cerner’s Infection Control team proactively works with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and government sites worldwide to understand and monitor the threat of disease outbreaks. Cerner has a taskforce comprised with global leadership across the company and we have plans in place to address the event of a pandemic as well as other business continuity concerns.
Cerner’s clinically and medically trained leaders have been closely monitoring the current COVID-19 outbreak and are guiding company efforts to keep associates and communities safe. In an abundance of caution, associates worldwide have been educated on best practices to prevent transmission, and Cerner is continually monitoring the WHO, CDC and government recommendations worldwide for travel guidelines and anticipate further updates to travel guidance as the situation evolves. Currently, Cerner's travel policies have been updated to only allow critical travel, prohibit travel to level 2 and level 3 locations and any non-critical travel to level 1 locations, as defined by the CDC. Additionally, associates who have returned from a level 2 or 3 location or from a cruise, or have been in close contact with someone who has, are required to work from home for two weeks.
Additionally, Cerner’s electronic health record software supports our health system clients’ efforts to effectively screen and monitor their patient populations for potential cases of viruses. As cases of the coronavirus were confirmed, we developed and pushed an update to our Cerner Millennium® clients to help them actively manage the ongoing threat of the virus in their populations. Cerner is committed to continually advancing our solutions to provide clients with the tools they need to better deter, detect and treat patients while preventing the further spread of diseases.
Cerner believes in a seamless and connected world where everyone thrives. Our leadership is committed to staying informed and guiding Cerner and our stakeholders through this global threat.
