George L. Mee Memorial Hospital has selected Cerner to implement an integrated electronic health record (EHR) across its acute and ambulatory facilities.

"At Mee Memorial, we aim to provide our community with primary health care and comprehensive health services in a convenient location close to home,” said Rena Salamacha, CIO, Mee Memorial. “Access to an integrated and simple-to-use EHR at our fingertips is what drove us to choose Cerner. With Cerner’s help, we will be better equipped to provide excellent health care in a rural setting, serving the people of southern Monterey County.”

Mee Memorial will transition to the Cerner Millennium® EHR, a health care IT platform designed to support an individual’s care journey across the continuum – from the doctor’s office to the hospital and outpatient clinics – with consistent patient engagement. Cerner Millennium will provide Mee Memorial physicians with a digital record of their patients’ health history, including clinical and financial data. Through the new online patient portal, patients will be able to securely message physicians, schedule appointments, view and settle balances and access their health history.

“We are thrilled to support Mee Memorial’s efforts to improve access to high-quality health care across their patient population,” said Zane Burke, president, Cerner. “By implementing Cerner solutions designed to facilitate coordinated care across the system, Mee Memorial is taking an important step toward a more empowered, more connected, healthier community.”

The Cerner CommunityWorks℠ cloud-based deployment model will help Mee Memorial improve health services and care to their community. This deployment model tailors Cerner Millennium to support the unique needs of community health care organizations. The Cerner CommunityWorks model will support Mee Memorial’s 94-bed hospital and network of four clinics, including three in King City and one in Greenfield.

“Cerner understands our organization, our community and the things that keep us up at night as health care professionals,” said Susan Childers, CEO, Mee Memorial. “With Cerner’s support, Mee Memorial will continue to improve the quality of the health care services we provide. With a truly interoperable EHR to keep patients connected wherever they go, as well as business services to keep the hospital up and running on the back end, Mee Memorial will be empowered to better serve our community.”

Mee Memorial will be able to integrate clinical and financial information into one patient record with revenue cycle management solutions in the Cerner Millennium EHR. Cerner’s Clinically Driven Revenue Cycle™ supports clinicians and staff with the resources to update the billing process throughout a patient’s visit and enhance clinical documentation to help improve reimbursement and limit claims errors. Mee Memorial also elected to receive additional billing service support through Cerner’s Business Office Services, which will allow the hospital to continue to focus on patient care.

“Mee Memorial’s dedication to provide high-quality care to their community will be strengthened by a robust and truly integrated EHR,” said Michael Farrell, vice president, CommunityWorks, Cerner. “Cerner’s solutions and services will support Mee Memorial as it continues to grow and expand its hospital to meet the health care needs of the people it serves today and into the future.”
